Your guide to Boston’s free museums

There are plenty of ways to drink in Boston’s museum culture for free. You just need to know when and where to go. June 25, 2015 | 7:22 AM

Boston is full of museums and many charge admission.

But there are admission freebies for those who know when to go. For example, the Institute of Contemporary Art is free every Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. (a $15 savings per person) and for families who participate in the museum’s Play Dates the last Saturday of the month. And the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is free on your birthday and if your name is Isabella (another $15 savings per person).

We help you plot your next museum trip so you can soak in the culture without parting with your cash.
